Get to Know Zambia

Below is some general information about Zambia.

INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL

The main airport is located in Lusaka (Kenneth Kaunda International Airport). Emirates and Qatar Airways offer daily international flights to Lusaka. There are also several other international flight options to get you to Lusaka. Generally, you will spend one night in Lusaka and then either catch a commercial flight to Mfuwe or have a private charter take you to an airstrip near your hunting area. If you fly commercially to Mfuwe, the drive to your camp will range between 45 mins and 4 hours depending on which area you will be hunting.

VISAS

Visas are not currently required to enter Zambia. Passports must be valid for at least six months upon arrival and have at least three blank pages upon each entry.

IMMUNIZATIONS

We recommend you contact your personal physician, local immunization clinic or public health facility to find out what immunizations are required for your overseas journey. Prophylactic medication for malaria is highly recommended for Zambia. You should bring an adequate supply of your prescribed medicines. There are first aid kits in the safari vehicles and comprehensive medical boxes in each camp.

CLIMATE

Zambia’s weather during hunting season is moderate until the month of September when temperatures become hotter, peaking in October when temperatures can exceed 100°F. At night, the temperature can range between 55°F and 71°F.

TIME ZONE

Zambia is +7 hours to USA Central time during Daylight Saving (March to November) and +8 hours to USA Central after Daylight Saving has ended. Zambia does not observe Daylight Saving Time.

CURRENCY

The local currency is the Zambian Kwacha. U.S. Dollars (2009 or newer) and credit cards are generally accepted in many locations in the country.

COMMUNICATIONS AND VEHICLES

All our camps are equipped with satellite phones and or radio systems for communication and emergency use. You might consider bringing your own satellite phone (rent or purchase) for personal use.  Internet access via Starlink satellite is available in all the camps, albeit it can be intermittent at times.
